What is your main mounts back story?
I have two main mounts “DHR Oh Mercy Moon” aka Mercy and “Wildchildsgotcashuno” aka JJ. My mom found Mercy as a five year old, she said she knew there was something special about him but she didn’t know what, now we know he was meant to show me all the places I’m meant to go. Mercy showed me what winning was but also tested me in every way possible, and he still does being 15 years young. I believe what makes Mercy so special is that he tries his heart out every single run, he is the toughest horse I've ever been around.
As a six year old my mom and I watched WILDCHILDSGOTCASHUNO aka JJ win with Kelly Allen south of the border and we fell in love with him. When I got the opportunity to get another rodeo horse my first thought was where’s JJ ?! I tried JJ at the end of July and I knew he was the one. I think what makes JJ so special is his very sassy personality, grit and his love to run barrels. I cannot thank Graf Mechanical Ltd enough for partnering on this Journey with JJ and I!
What was your most memorable run this season, and what made it memorable?
I don’t have any that came upon me in particular but winning the last 5 Rodeos of the 2025 season was pretty dang memorable, JJ showed up for me every run and it felt like a dream that I was waiting to be woken up from. He moved us from 21st in the Standings to 5th! He’s truly a Unicorn.
What was different about your rodeo season this year compared to last year?
This year I luckily had two incredible equine athletes that both stepped up when I needed them the most. After Armstrong last year I was determined to come out stronger and hungrier than I ever had been before.
What challenges did you face this year, and how did you overcome them?
I had to miss four rodeos that Mercy has done well at because I qualified for the NFR Open. That was tough knowing I wasn’t able to get to those. It was hard missing those but we came back to Canada and Mercy showed up for me.
How do you keep confidence when things aren't going as planned, or you are in a slump?
Luckily I have a small but mighty circle to fall back on! It felt like nothing was going my way in the middle of June so I reached out to my good buddy Scott Guenthner and his advice really made me change the way I look at things. One of the things he told me was “It only takes one run to change everything”. I will never forget that!
Tell readers something good that happened to you this season, other than winning or placing at a rodeo?
I decided to dabble at some of the rodeos down south, I got to meet and get to know some of the best in the game. It really was amazing to be welcomed and surrounded by that calibre of barrel racers.
What would be your rough estimate of vet work annually to get to the Canadian Finals Rodeo? Do you know a rough estimate of what it cost (without factoring in truck/trailer cost) to make a run at the CFR?
Honestly it’s a lot of money to go down the road. From your vet bills, fuel expenses, entry fees, farrier bill and then trailer and truck maintenance. I would definitely say well over 20k.
What was the best restaurant you stopped at all year? Any hidden gems to mention?
Home Restaurant in Merritt BC and The Pasta Company in Ellensburg WA
What is your least favourite part of being on the rodeo road, and what is your favourite?
Least favourite would have to be not having as many home cooked meals and the boys not being able rest at home.
My favourite thing would have to be just being on the road, I’m a gypsy at heart, I don’t like being somewhere too long.
What therapies are a must have for your horse?
I’m a big fan of the Magnawave, I’m very fortunate to have SVM Equine Therapy on my team and my horses absolutely love it. Sarah also does chiropractic and massage and it is a game changer! I’ve used the Magnawave on myself and it works wonders!
How do you manage to balance life at home/work with life on the road?
Rodeoing is my full time job at the moment and I’m grateful to have multiple people who help me keep the ball rolling with other horses I have. I can’t thank my mom and dad enough for everything they do! And a huge thank you to Carly Livingstone and Kyle Wanchuk for riding with me and my horses when I'm away!
Who did you travel with this year? Do you have a funny or heart warming story you could share about your time together, or anything you would like to share about them?
I travel with my mom and my Corgi “Millie”. We have a whole lot of fun and stories but we will save those for a different time lol
How are you preparing for the Canadian Finals Rodeo practise wise? What is your routine like to be ready for Edmonton?
Keeping the boys exercised and possibly hit the odd jackpot. They will also get new shoes and go to the vet to make sure they are feeling their best.
If your horse was an actor/actress in a movie, who would play them, or if your horse was a character from a movie, which character do they remind you of and why?
Mercy would definitely be Will Ferrells Character in the Anchorman and JJ would be Sharpay Evens from High School Musical.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up, and what do you do now?
I wanted to be a CFR and NFR Barrel Racer, I have a slideshow from grade 4 to prove it.
I graduated college from the Hairstyling Program, I am also a Makeup Artist and Certified Lash Technician.
If you could swing a leg over another qualifier's horse, who would it be and why?
Dyna of Pamela Morrison’s, she had such a cool style and would be so fun to run!
How many barrel horses do you currently have in your string, tell us about them?
I have four that I’m running currently. Check This Cartel “Checkers” won the CBHI Superstakes last October.
DHR Okies Little Joe “LJ” is a five year old half sibling to Mercy, I think he’s pretty special.
I also have a three year old half sibling to Krystal Grads great mare Stevi. A two year old old half sibling to Mercy, two yearlings; one is by RR Mistakelly and the other by LR Kimmitted Leader out of my great mare “Gracie”, who is by Lion Share of Fame.
What is your advice for someone who wants to take a shot at making the Canadian Finals Rodeo?
Have tough skin, keep your chin up, and keep your circle small. I also live by my Dads belief “Be Kind, Work Hard and Success will follow”.
I couldn’t do this without the amazing team of sponsors that i am blessed to have, Graf Mechanical LTD, Benoit Oilfield Construction and JGAARD Contracting . Thank you for everything each and everyone of you do for me. I have the best in the business by my side!!
SVM Equine Therapy for keeping my boys’ body’s feeling good, Hoffmans Horse Products for the best feed on the market, Wiley James Hat Company for the most COMFORTABLE cowboy hats out there, and Little Lucille for the most flattering and elegant shirts to compete in!
Thank you to my vet Dr. Jessica Romanow for always fitting me in to look at the boys and taking the best care of them.
I owe most of my success to my parents, Kris and Wendy Molle, you guys have pushed me to be better and better since the beginning. Thank you for every tank of fuel you have provided, words of encouragement and criticism, I couldn’t do any of this without the two of you. I’m so proud to not only call you my parents, but my best friends.
I also owe my boyfriend Kyle Wanchuk a huge thank you for every hour you have spent in and out of the arena teaching me about being a better horseman, helping me with my horses from starting them to tuning them, and telling me the simplest things to better myself and my horses. I’m so lucky to have you in my corner!
I’m also very blessed to have Ty and Carly Livingstone as not only friends, but the best dang farrier and coach/barrel horse trainer and bestie all in two!
Thank you Kelly Allen for everything you have done for JJ and I. You have helped immensely to make JJ and I gel so fast!! I truly cannot thank you enough for everything!
