2026 CFR Interviews Presented by Alliance Equine

What was your most memorable run of the season, and what made it stand out?
I’d say either my run at Falkland, BC in the spring or my run from Lethbridge, AB in the later season! In Falkland I rode Smoke and I was 2.2 to win the rodeo, but it was a run that really got the ball rolling for the season! In Lethbridge I was 2.3 on Rio! It was a run that was in the last few weeks in the season with good money to help the final pushes to the CFR!

Looking back at your season as a whole, what are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of the way we kept fighting. This season had its ups and downs, and I made mistakes and didn’t do my job at some rodeos where I had great opportunities. But I just kept showing up, kept trusting the process, and found a way to make it happen.

How have you changed as a competitor since your first CFR?
At my first CFR I was 17 so I’ve definitely grown as a person and a competitor since then. From just being on the road, I’ve learn to not let the highs get to high and the lows to  get to low. But also when you draw a good one you’ve gotta do your job to get a top place check and when you don’t have the one to win the rodeo, learn to place on that calf!

How has your definition of a good season changed over the years?
A good season used to be defined by wins and results. Now, it’s about who I become through the highs and lows. It’s trusting the work I’ve put in, learning from the mistakes, and not letting the same mistakes creep in, and having the confidence to keep showing up and competing to win. Wins are important, but the toughness you build getting there is what makes you a champion, and who ever has the best mental game is always at the top!

What's the hardest part about chasing the CFR dream that most people don't see?
I’d say probably when you’re trying everything you can to win, but sometimes it’s not your time. Even when you put all the hours and hard work in. You can’t get down on your self but you also have to strive to be better everyday!

If you weren’t a breakaway roper, what would you be doing instead?
If I wasn’t rodeoing full time, I’d probably be training horses or playing hockey! I grew up playing high level hockey until grade 11 and I stopped to pursue my rodeo career!

Do you have any rodeo superstitions?
I wouldn’t say I’m superstition, but I like to have a routine before I rope. But if we are running behind it’s not the end of the world. But I definitely like to get to the rodeo early so I can!

Do you prefer the training or competing side of the process more, and why?
I honestly love both sides of it! I generally just love the sport and everything that goes into it! I love the training side cause it’s so rewarding to watch a young horse that didn’t know anything about what your asking them to do, then to them starting to figure out and then after sometime of grinding it out with them your able to take them to jackpots and start winning on them is a cool feeling! Then on the competing side, I’ve always been a very competitive person and not a fan of losing haha! But this sport is so crazy cause no matter what you’ll never truly master it! So I always have to keep upping my game and figuring out how to shave a tenth of a second off here and there! There’s no better feeling being in front of a sold out crowd and going 2.0 to win the rodeo!

What's one part of your horse's care program you refuse to compromise on?
My horses get Zesterra before every rodeo, and everyday they get a scoop of Hoffmans Elite Ration and a cup of the Hoffmans Performance Mineral!

What goes through your mind in the box before a run?
I really try to keep it simple, alls I think about when I go in the corner is “See your Start” and “Rope the Neck”. Then let muscle memory take over

What are your best tips for mental toughness and handling pressure?
Keep it simple. When the pressure is high, don’t try to do more—trust what you already know how to do. Have faith in the work you’ve put in, because all those hours of practice have prepared you for that moment. Stay present, trust yourself, trust God’s plan, and let your preparation take over. Pressure doesn’t change what you’re capable of—it’s just your opportunity to show it.

When you eventually look back on your rodeo career, what do you hope you remember most?
I hope to remember not only the wins, but also the people and friends that I met along the way! As well remembering all the cool places and opportunities I’ve got to experience through rodeo! This lifestyle it like no other!

What do you hope the next generation remembers about you?
I want to be remembered by the next generation as someone who worked hard, stayed humble, and never gives up no matter the circumstances!  Someone who treated people and animals with respect, and wasn’t afraid to chase big dreams. More than anything, I hope I can show the next generation that success isn’t just all about winning—it’s about your character, your faith, and the way you carry yourself along the way.

What does it mean to you to be a two time Canadian Champion Breakaway Roper?
Being a 2x Canadian Champion means more than the buckle or title. It represents the long hours in and out of the arena!  believed in me, and the faith that kept me going. Winning once was a dream—doing it twice is unbelievable! It showed me that anything is possible if you put your head down and get to work!

Who has been in your corner the most this season, and what have they done to help you get here?
My family is a huge part of my life and my career! They always have my back no matter what! Whether it’s helping me in the practice pen, taking care of my stuff at home when I’m gone, or even just a phone call when I’m driving or me a pick me up, my parents and all my siblings are always there for me!

A Huge Shout to my sponsors! CVS Controls, Wrangler, Hoffmans Horse Products, Weaver Leather, Rattler Ropes, Shorty’s Caboy Hattery, Zesterra, Chase the Good, Three Triangle Ranch and Lincoln County Oilfield Services Ltd.! As well as my family and friends for always having my back!
