Jackie Ganter WNFR 2015

When I started writing this blog, I had also just heard of Jackie Ganter. Being in Canada, I was one of the first who had heard of her, though down south she was already a known name. I wrote about Jackie as one of my first pieces because she is so exciting to watch make a run. You can find that post here. The more I wrote the more confidence I gained, and decided hey, I should try to contact Jackie and just interview her! And so I did, which you can find here. In this second article on Miss Ganter, I said ” If you want to remember one name in the WPRA for 2015, just think Jackie Ganter. If you want to remember one name for your 2015 NFR Fantasy Team, remember Jackie Ganter. You might think I sound crazy, but have you seen this girl make a run?! Just six days after the 2015 season began, her permit was filled.” And now here we are! Jackie is headed to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in 12th position after 99 rodeos and $69,318.81 made. The Abilene Texas cowgirl is one of two Rookies who have qualified this year. The Rookie of the Year Race will continue throughout the NFR.

Who is your “person” or “left hand man” who has helped you down the road this year?
My mom, Angela, was there every step of the way. She was at every rodeo and drove 90% of the time. She was definitely a huge benefit to my success.

What are you most excited for in Las Vegas other than running down the alley at the T&M??
Besides getting to run in that coveted arena I am very excited for the autograph signings every day. I love meeting new people and it’s a great feeling to know that people follow me through social media.

What tack do you use?
I ride in Double J Pozzi Pro Saddles, 5 Star Saddle Pads, RES Sport Boots, and I have a very wide variety of bits.

If you werent barrel racing/rodeoing, what would you be doing?
Most people my age just went to college so I probably would be at a campus instead of taking classes online.

What was your favorite rodeo this year and why?
Wainwright, AB, Canada was my favorite rodeo because the atmosphere of the fans was so supportive and fun and the chuck wagon races were awesome.

What song is your ultimate pre-run pump up song?
Fight Song by Rachel Platten, when I was having a hard time this summer this song came out and it made me turn my attitude around.

What is the best barrel racing advice you have ever been given OR what is the best piece of barrel racing advice would you give to a person?
I have been told this as well as told many people this… Never give up. It is such a simple statement but it is so true. If you want something bad enough you can achieve it even if the path getting there isn’t smooth.
